3 Keys To Finding Your Purpose In Life

Do you know what the meaning of life is? Or why you are here? This article will help you with finding your purpose in life.

It can be helpful to have some understanding of why you are here, so that you can focus on what matters and make the most of your precious life, instead of “floating along like a dead fish” as the poet Rumi would say.

I have my own theory on the meaning of life to share with you today.

It’s called “Miracles and Magic” because we have two main purposes in life.

Your first purpose

Your first purpose is walking your inner journey. Some people call this self-realization.

This path is about:

Waking up to who you really are beneath your thoughts, titles and roles – your soul or true divine nature.

  • Mastering your inner world – your thoughts and emotions.
  • Experiencing greater happiness and inner peace on a daily basis.
  • Realizing you are part of one greater unity known as the Universe.
  • Becoming more present in each moment – the bliss of being alive.
  • Enjoying the simple pleasures like coffee and sunshine.
  • Learning to love and accept yourself and others.

This path is really about simple happiness. The Dalai Lama has even said the purpose of life is happiness.

I call this path “Miracles” based on the book A Course In Miracles, which defines a miracle as a shift in perception from fear to love.

This path really is all about becoming miracle-minded – transcending the negative and fear-based thoughts and chatter of our ego mind, in order to experience deeper states of love, joy, peace and bliss for no reason.

To explore this element of your purpose more, you may wish to: meditate daily; read philosophical or spiritual books; spend more time simply being and connecting with your soul; choose happiness and peace on a daily basis; cultivate a miracle-mindset or positive and loving outlook; have more compassion for yourself and others; think about how you would like to grow as a person into a greater version of you; and contemplate the unity of life – the idea that we are all pieces of the one puzzle known as the Universe.

Your second purpose

Your second purpose is walking your outer journey. Some people call this self-actualization.

This path is about:

  • Creating your goals, desires and dream life.
  • Mastering your outer world – relationships, career, finances, lifestyle.
  • Realising that you are a unique piece of the one whole Universe.
  • Living a life that is true to you and your unique soul signature.
  • Learning new skills and achieving your fullest potential in this life.

I call this path “Magic” because when you live in alignment with your unique soul and go after your true goals and dreams, the Universe will become your biggest ally and support you with magical synchronicity and blessings.

This path is really about purpose-fuelled happiness. The kind of sweet satisfaction that comes from kicking goals or learning new hobbies or cooking an amazing meal for your friends; all external forms of self-expression.

To explore this element of your purpose more, you may wish to: spend some time getting clear on your values and passions; create a vision for your dream life and what you want to be doing on a daily basis; take baby steps to kick your goals and create your desires; follow your heart and intuition more instead of the status quo; think about how you can use your gifts to serve others and the world; express yourself through your career, art or hobbies; experience more of life through travel, social connections and trying new activites; and learn to co-create with help from the Universe.

Your secret ultimate purpose

So now you know you’ve got two purposes – your inner journey to happiness and peace; and your outer journey to creating your goals and dreams.

But there is actually a much simpler way of defining your purpose in life.

Want to hear it?

Your purpose in life is simply to be YOU. And you are succeeding at that 100 percent of the time. Congratulations!

In all seriousness, you are the Universe experiencing itself as a human for a little while. You are the Universe in ecstatic motion.

That means your very existence is a blessing, a gift and a new contribution to the tapestry of life.

You are a unique once-in-humankind blend of interests, passions, quirks, gifts and magic. There has never before been anyone like you and there never will be anyone. You matter. You are a superstar of the Universe.

And your purpose in life is to be you in the best and fullest (and messiest) way that you can. To eat, drink, dance, play, sleep, eat, love, create, achieve, relax, grow, and experience life in ways that feel right to you.

When you do the things that you love and bring your joy, you light up – and when you light up, you brighten the world, and everyone benefits.

So give up any notion of what you “should” be doing or what you need to achieve to prove or earn your worth. Your worth is inherent; you were born worthy and enough. Start to design a life that feels authentic and good to you. There is no right or wrong, just what you think is meaningful and beautiful.

Be kind to yourself while you’re on this journey. It’s not always easy being an unlimited beautiful divine soul in the world of time and space.

That is your purpose my friend! It really is that simple. Be you. Be happy. Love more. Express yourself. Learn and grow. Experience the joy and juiciness and adventure and magic and expansion of life. Have fun!
